With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and TRT, the 7th Sufi Film Festival, hosted by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, was held under the theme “The Longest Silence in History.”
This year, the festival was dedicated to Palestinian civilians who lost their lives under Israeli oppression. As part of the program, a weekend screening was held at Konya Metropolitan Municipality Warehouse No. 4, featuring the experimental memorial film “The Longest Silence in History” and a special screening of the award-winning film “The Voice of Hind Rajab.”
Based on data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the experimental film presents the Arabic and English names, along with the ages, of approximately 60,000 Palestinians who lost their lives in Israeli attacks. Lasting more than 30 hours, the work draws attention for its extraordinary length and aims to confront viewers with the scale of the tragedy beyond numbers, through names and memories.
On Sunday, May 10, the program continued with a special screening of the internationally award-winning film “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” directed and written by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania.
As part of the festival, visitors to Warehouse No. 4 were also presented with carnations in memory of the civilians who lost their lives in Palestine.
The 7th Sufi Film Festival this year focused less on the cinematic power of spectacle and more on the strength of silence and remembrance.
