Seljuk Heritage Under the Glass Dome Draws Great Attention

Located in the heart of Konya, the Meram Suriçi Bazaar Project, which blends historical heritage with modern architecture and is regarded as one of Türkiye’s most comprehensive urban transformation projects, continues to attract great admiration from visitors with its rich historical character.

In particular, the Seljuk bathhouse ruins displayed beneath the geodesic glass dome draw significant attention from both local visitors and tourists arriving from outside the city.

Like the other phases of the project, the first phase of the Suriçi Bazaar brings together modern architecture and the city’s historic texture. While preserving Konya’s historical and cultural heritage, the Seljuk legacy brought to life beneath the Geodesic Glass Dome creates a strong bridge between the past and the future, offering visitors an unforgettable experience.

Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş also made statements regarding the project, emphasizing that the glass dome is one of the most important components of the Suriçi Project. Mayor Kavuş said, “Preserving the largest bathhouse ruin from the Seljuk era with this special structure and bringing it into tourism has strengthened the historical aspect of our project. This dome is not just a roof; it is a symbol of the respect we have for our city’s thousand-year history.”

Mayor Kavuş also noted that the glass dome has quickly become one of Konya’s new landmark structures, attracting significant interest from both local residents and visitors from outside the city. He added that the increase in visitor numbers, especially on weekends, clearly demonstrates that the project has become a major attraction in terms of tourism as well.
