Unique Handicrafts of Sille

Sille stands out not only for its rich history and distinctive architecture, but also for its long-standing handicraft traditions. The area is known for its rugs and carpets, traditional pottery, stone craftsmanship, and various handmade products that reflect the cultural heritage of the region.

Today, efforts continue to preserve and promote Sille’s traditional crafts through projects supported by Selçuklu Municipality. One of the most notable initiatives is the Metin Sözen Town Workshop, established in cooperation with Konya Metropolitan Municipality and the ÇEKÜL Foundation, which supports local artisans and helps keep traditional stone craftsmanship alive.

In addition, SELMEK courses focusing on Turkish-Islamic arts and traditional handicrafts, along with local rug workshops and artisan shops in the center of Sille, continue to contribute to the preservation of the area’s cultural identity.

With its deep-rooted craft traditions and growing cultural initiatives, Sille remains one of Konya’s important centers for traditional arts and handicrafts.
