Aygır Waterfall Draws Nature Lovers to Bozkır

Aygır Waterfall Draws Nature Lovers to Bozkır

Located in the Bozkır district of Konya, Aygır Waterfall is one of the region’s most remarkable natural attractions, surrounded by highlands, forests, and mountain landscapes. Situated approximately 35 kilometers from the district center, the site is also known locally as “Aygır Spring” and is referred to by residents as a “su gözü,” meaning a natural water source emerging directly from the earth.

The journey to Aygır Waterfall offers visitors scenic views through the villages of Çat, Dere, Sorkun, and Karacahisar. Along the route, a historic stone bridge and lush green valleys create one of the area’s most distinctive landscapes. Following the stream beyond the bridge leads visitors to the point where crystal-clear water flows powerfully through the rocks, forming the waterfall.

The surrounding area is also known for its historic water mills, many of which were traditionally used in tahini production. Visitors can still experience the atmosphere of these old mills and taste freshly prepared tahini while surrounded by the aroma of roasted sesame seeds, offering a unique glimpse into the region’s rural culture.

Aygır Spring, considered the source of the Çarşamba Stream, is located at an elevation of approximately 1,710 meters near the Karacahisar area of Bozkır. The spring forms as underground waters emerge from large rock formations between the hills at the foot of the mountains. Its cold and fast-flowing waters divide into small streams before joining the Çarşamba Stream.

Especially during spring, when melting snow increases the water flow, the area becomes one of the most popular recreational destinations in the region. Picnic areas, walking paths, fountains, and resting facilities provided by the municipality attract visitors from Bozkır, nearby districts, and Konya city center.

With its natural scenery, cool mountain air, historic water mills, and peaceful atmosphere, Aygır Waterfall remains one of the most impressive nature destinations in Konya for both nature enthusiasts and photography lovers.
