Konya Has The Most Affordable Student Transport

Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues to stand out with the most affordable public transportation fares in a city known for its large student and youth population. 

Mayor Altay noted that with its public transportation pricing, the municipality once again demonstrates the people-centered “Konya Model Municipality” approach. Emphasizing that making life easier for young people and students is one of their primary responsibilities, Mayor Altay said, “Our greatest strength is our youth. To support their dreams and educational journeys, we make every effort possible, especially in educational support. In addition, Turkey’s most affordable student transportation is in Konya. We have maintained the student public transportation fare at 9 liras since August 2025. As in the previous year, we are happy and proud to continue offering Turkey’s most affordable student transportation in Konya in 2026.” 

KONYA AMONG THE MOST AFFORDABLE CITIES FOR FULL FARE AS WELL 

Mayor Altay also highlighted that the full fare remains among the most affordable compared to other metropolitan cities. “In public transportation, which closely concerns all our citizens, we continue to keep prices at reasonable levels without compromising service quality. With the full fare set at 22.5 liras, we remain one of the cities offering the most affordable transportation among metropolitan municipalities. Our goal is to provide an accessible and sustainable transportation system that considers the budgets of everyone—from students to workers, from retirees to tradespeople. As in every field, Konya will continue to set an example in transportation as well,” he said. 

STUDENTS ARE VERY SATISFIED 

Students studying in Konya also stated that transportation in the city is more affordable compared to other cities and that it is easy to reach anywhere in the city by bus and the existing tram network. Emphasizing that being a student in Konya is a very positive experience with many advantages, students noted that Konya is a student-friendly city.
