Konya's Role in the Growth of the Turkish Economy

Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) President Selçuk Öztürk stated that the private sector contributed greatly to the growth of the Turkish economy in the second quarter of 2022, as well.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the second quarter data of 2022 on Turkey's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). According to the figures announced, the Turkish economy grew by 7.6 percent in the second quarter. The growth, which was 7.3 percent in the first quarter, was revised to 7.5 percent.

Evaluating the growth figures, KTO President Selçuk Öztürk stated that while 7.8 percent growth was recorded in industry and 18.1 percent in services, the contribution of net exports to general growth was 2.7 percentage points. and insurance activities 26.6 percent, service activities 18.1 percent, professional, administrative and support service activities 11.0 percent, industry 7.8 percent, information and communication activities 5.3 percent, real estate activities 4.1 percent, other service activities increased by 1.9 percent and public administration, education, human health and social work activities increased by 1.7 percent. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries decreased by 2.9 percent and the construction sector decreased by 10.9 percent. According to these figures, We see that our private sector contributed greatly to the growth of the Turkish economy in the second quarter of 2022, as well. I congratulate our private sector representatives and all our employees who work devotedly and grow the economy of our city and our country.”

President Öztürk said, “Konya, which exports 1.609 billion dollars in the first half of 2022, increased its industrial capacity and production, continued private sector investments and increased its employment, contributed to the growth of the Turkish economy in the second quarter of the year. As Konya, we will continue to work to expand the economy of our city and country.”
