Seljuk Sultans Commemorated on the 929th Anniversary of Konya Becoming the Capital

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality is organizing the Darülmülk Celebrations and Commemoration Program to mark the 929th anniversary of Konya becoming the capital of the Seljuk State.


As part of this year’s celebrations, the program began with a commemoration ceremony at Alaaddin Mosque, where the Seljuk sultans, along with all martyrs and veterans, were honored.


Following Friday prayers, a ceremonial guard-changing ceremony was held at the Seljuk Sultans’ Tomb inside Alaaddin Mosque. The event was attended by Konya Governor İbrahim Akın, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Cemil Lütfi Özkul, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Ahmet Murat Koru, Provincial Police Chief Necmettin Koç, Karatay District Governor Cengiz Ayhan, MHP Konya Provincial Chairman Sedat Göncü, AK Party Konya Provincial Executive Board Member Galip Kavasoğlu, and local residents.


The program concluded with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by prayers after the ceremonial guard change.
