The 4th Green Transformation and Sustainability in Industry Summit, organized by the Konya Chamber of Industry in collaboration with Economy Newspaper, was held with a strong turnout.
Opening the summit, Konya Chamber of Industry President Mustafa Büyükeğen highlighted the critical importance of sustainable production, stating, “Cities that produce not just for the sake of production but in a sustainable way will shape the future. Konya will continue to be one of the strongest actors in this future.”
This year’s summit, recognized as Turkey’s largest green industry event, was hosted by the Konya Chamber of Industry alongside the Konya Organized Industrial Zone, under the leadership of Mustafa Büyükeğen. The event saw participation from Konya Governor İbrahim Akın, AK Party Konya Deputies Mehmet Baykan and Latif Selvi, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Uzbaş, OSBÜK President Memiş Kütükcü, local protocol members, industrialists, and invited guests.
During his opening remarks at the summit held in the Konya Organized Industrial Zone, Büyükeğen praised the achievements of Konya’s industrial sector and emphasized the necessity of adapting to the evolving dynamics of the new era to maintain competitive strength.
Stressing that green transformation is one of the most critical issues of our time, Büyükeğen added, “The green transformation of our industry is essential to sustaining and enhancing our presence in European Union markets, which account for 40% of Turkey’s total exports and 37% of Konya’s exports. As the Konya Chamber of Industry and the Konya Organized Industrial Zone, we continuously inform our industrialists, conduct awareness campaigns, and organize training programs. We are committed to mobilizing all our resources so that our industrialists have access to the information, support, and roadmap they need during this transition. The determination and collaboration we demonstrate here today will lay the foundation for a more competitive, cleaner, and stronger industry of tomorrow. Cities that produce sustainably will shape the future, and Konya will remain at the forefront of this transformation.”
Highlighting the Energy Efficiency Mobile Assessment Vehicle—a project implemented in collaboration with the Konya Chamber of Industry, KOP Regional Development Administration, and the Provincial Directorate of Industry and Technology—Büyükeğen described it as a cornerstone of the Chamber’s green transformation initiatives. The vehicle continues to conduct energy assessments across Turkey, having evaluated 131 institutions and industrial enterprises to date. “Through these assessments, we have prevented 51,000 tons of carbon emissions annually,” he noted. “By achieving energy savings of 8,810 TOE, we have contributed 223 million Turkish lira to the national economy. Additionally, with the ‘Energy Efficiency Consultancy’ authorization granted by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, we provide consultancy services to our members and help them access support programs offered by institutions such as TUBITAK and MEVKA.”
