MÜSİAD Konya Branch President Hilmi Kağnıcı stated: “We have
a trade relationship with Libya worth around 4 billion dollars, but it is not
an unrealistic dream for this figure to increase tenfold within 2-3 years.”
Hilmi Kağnıcı, the President of the Independent
Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) Konya Branch stated that
the trade volume between Libya and Turkey is around 4 billion dollars, and he
mentioned that this potential could significantly increase in a short period of
time.
Kağnıcı evaluated the Libya trip they conducted last week.
Kağnıcı explained that they visited Libya with a group of 20
businesspeople from the MÜSİAD Konya Branch and noted that they had productive
meetings with administrative and local authorities, as well as influential
officials in the industrial and commercial sectors.
Kağnıcı emphasized the potential of industrialists from
Konya and stated that they aimed to contribute to the development of Libya and
the growth of trade between the two countries.
He said, "The trade volume with Libya could increase up
to tenfold."
Kağnıcı further stated that they would establish a
"Libya Desk" to activate this potential. He continued:
"We will bring our colleagues together with the opportunities available there. We had a meeting with the Chairman and General Manager of the Libyan Islamic Bank, who expressed their willingness to provide support and be a partner in any project there, which is very valuable to us. If the opportunities in the agriculture and industrial sectors are combined, tremendous results can be achieved. We currently have a trade relationship with Libya worth around 4 billion dollars, but it is not an unrealistic dream for this figure to increase tenfold within 2-3 years."
