Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay evaluated the infrastructure investments being carried out across all 31 districts by the KOSKİ General Directorate. Mayor Altay announced that the total value of KOSKİ projects launched, completed, and currently underway in 2025 has reached 4 billion Turkish lira, while total investments made since 2018 have amounted to 27.662 billion lira.
Highlighting the growing threat posed by climate change and drought to Konya’s agriculture, water resources, and daily life, Mayor Altay said: “For this reason, we are working proactively to implement measures that protect our water resources, promote conservation, and strengthen our infrastructure. We currently supply the city with water from three dams: Altınapa Dam, Bozkır Dam, and Bağbaşı Dam. The current occupancy rate of Altınapa Dam stands at 70 percent, while Bozkır Dam is at 50 percent and Bağbaşı Dam at 22 percent. These figures were significantly lower, especially during last summer. Anticipating this situation in advance, we took action and implemented new water well and group water supply projects to ensure our city would not face water shortages.”
Mayor Altay held an information meeting to review the investments and projects implemented by the KOSKİ General Directorate across Konya’s 31 districts.
He stated that since 2018, Konya has completed 3,646 kilometers of new water network installations and rehabilitation works, as well as 1,198 kilometers of new sewerage network installations and improvement projects. “Since taking office, we have invested 16.086 billion lira in water and sewerage network construction and rehabilitation works. The total value of KOSKİ investments launched, completed, and continuing in our 31 districts during 2025 is 4 billion lira. Since 2018, when we assumed office, this figure has reached 27.662 billion lira. With all our resources and capabilities, we will continue working to build a stronger future for our city,” he said.
During his remarks, Mayor Altay also discussed the Solar Power Plant (SPP) and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) projects being carried out under the KOSKİ General Directorate. “With our completed, ongoing, and planned investments, the total installed capacity of KOSKİ’s solar and hydroelectric power plants will reach 100 megawatts. This will position Konya as the leading water and sewerage administration in Türkiye in terms of installed renewable energy capacity,” he said.
Mayor Altay also provided detailed information on numerous KOSKİ projects and services, including wastewater treatment facilities, the Purple Network project, electricity generation from methane gas, conservation efforts for Lake Beyşehir, Lake Tuz, and Lake Meke, the Sewerage Master Plan, flood retention ponds, SCADA systems, Water Management Software, agricultural irrigation investments, the KOSKİ Geographic Information System, and the BEYSU Doğanbey Production Facility.
