Trade Diplomacy Between Konya and Tunisia Strengthens

Tunisia’s Ambassador to Ankara Ahmed Ben Sghaier and a delegation from the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited the Konya Chamber of Industry and held discussions aimed at strengthening trade and industrial cooperation between the two sides.

Konya and Tunisia have seen an acceleration in diplomatic and commercial engagements aimed at strengthening their economic relations.

Ahmed Ben Sghaier and Habib Hammam visited Mustafa Büyükeğen at the Konya Chamber of Industry, where they evaluated cooperation opportunities aimed at increasing trade volume between the two sides.

In the meeting, Konya Chamber of Industry President Mustafa Büyükeğen shared information on the production capacity and export potential of Konya’s industrial sector, emphasizing that Konya is one of Türkiye’s leading industrial cities.

Büyükeğen noted that the city is home to 12 organized industrial zones and more than 120 industrial sites, underlining that it has a strong production infrastructure across many sectors, particularly machinery, automotive, defense industry, and food production.

Büyükeğen stated that they consider the development of commercial relations with Tunisia a strategically important objective. He noted that last year, within the scope of a technical visit program to Tunisia organized with industrialists from Konya, approximately 400 bilateral business meetings were held, and these contacts have started to turn into concrete collaborations.

Ahmed Ben Sghaier stated that the cooperation mechanism established between the Konya Chamber of Industry and the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry will contribute to the investment climate between the two countries.

Sghaier noted that more than 3,000 foreign-capital companies are operating in Tunisia, adding that currently 46 Turkish companies are investing in the country and that they would like to see this number increase further.

Ahmed Ben Sghaier emphasized that Tunisia offers a strategic advantage in terms of access to African and European markets, and invited industrialists from Konya to expand into regional markets through Tunisia.

Habib Hammam also stated that there is strong mutual will to transform the cooperation memorandum signed last year between the two institutions into a sustainable and results-oriented framework.

He called on the business community of Konya to establish closer commercial relations with Tunisia.
