Türkiye’s Largest Barrier Free Living Center Opens in Konya

The Barrier-Free Living Center, implemented by Karatay Municipality and recognized as the largest in Türkiye and the first of its kind in Konya, has begun admitting patients.

Karatay Municipality, which develops projects for all segments of society, has implemented another significant investment by also considering disadvantaged individuals. The Karatay Barrier-Free Living Center, which will contribute to the education and social participation of individuals with disabilities, has begun admitting patients, filling an important gap in Konya. The official opening of the center will take place in the coming days.

The center aims to support the education of individuals with special needs, increase their participation in social life, and help them develop their abilities. At the same time, it offers services that make daily life easier for the families of individuals with disabilities. Through the workshops, educational programs, and activities available at the center, individuals will both spend their time productively and contribute to their personal development.

Built on a construction area of 7,200 square meters, the center includes day care units for different age groups, education rooms, workshops, a conference hall, an indoor sports hall, a library, a prayer room, and various social areas.

The center also features specialized education areas for individuals with visual, hearing, intellectual, and specific learning disabilities, as well as physiotherapy units, sensory integration rooms, psychological support services, and practical training areas.

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca stated that they are proud to bring one of Türkiye’s largest and most comprehensive Barrier-Free Living Centers to Konya, emphasizing that the center will support the social, cultural, and physical development of individuals with special needs while also making daily life easier for their families.
