The historical Obruk Inn, dating back to the 13th century, has been undergoing restoration work since the year 2020.
The Obruk Inn, located in the historical district of Karatay in Konya, has entered a historical revival process spanning from the 13th century to the present. Restoration work, which commenced in 2020, continues with great dedication and a budget of 6 million Turkish Lira.
In addition to the restoration carried out by the Karatay Municipality, Obruk Inn will breathe new life into regional tourism with environmental landscaping. The declaration of Obruk Lake as a "Strictly Protected Sensitive Area" will combine the historical and natural beauties of the region, making it an attractive destination for tourists.
The Mayor of Karatay stated that they aim to make the region a focal point for tourists with the completion of the environmental landscaping project, which has an investment cost of 5.8 million Turkish Lira.
Obruk Inn stands out with its architectural features from the Seljuk period, while the nearby Kızören Sinkhole also contributes to the historical richness of the region. Thus, this unique area, located 70 km northeast of Konya, is transforming into a tourism destination where history and nature converge.
