Excavation work for 2025 has begun at the ancient city of Lystra, located in the Meram Botsa and Hatunsaray regions. This site holds great significance not only for Anatolia but also for world and Christian history.
As excavation progresses in the city, which attracts the attention of historians and archaeologists due to Saint Paul's three separate visits and its mention in the Bible, many valuable structures are being unearthed. The site is considered highly significant for faith tourism.
Founded as a colony during the Roman period, the city stands out as one of Turkey’s most remarkable sites in terms of both faith tourism and archaeology.
Excavations in the city began in 2024 through the collaboration of Meram District Municipality, Konya Metropolitan Municipality, and Necmettin Erbakan University.
