Step into History at Horozlu Inn in Konya

Horozlu Inn is a significant landmark in Konya, reflecting the city's rich history and culture. This caravanserai, a masterpiece of Seljuk architecture, has served as a resting place for caravans and travelers for centuries.

Believed to have been built in the mid-13th century by Emir (Camdar) Esed-ud-din Ruzbe, a Seljuk statesman and situated in the Ruzbe Plain, on the Konya-Akşehir highway.

The inn consists of two main parts: an open and a closed section. The closed section features a high central courtyard surrounded by rooms. The open section includes a courtyard and surrounding buildings. Constructed with cut stone, the inn boasts intricate decorations and a robust structure. Horozlu Inn was not only a lodging place but also a center for trade and social life. It served as a resting place for caravans, a stable for horses, and a storage area for merchants' goods.

After years of neglect, the inn underwent its first restoration in the 1950s. A comprehensive restoration in 1971 preserved its original structure to a great extent. Today, Horozlu Inn is open to visitors, offering a glimpse into the splendor of Seljuk architecture.
