Konya Fire Department Becomes World’s First JOIFF-Accredited Municipal Fire Service

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department has become the first and only municipal fire service in the world to receive accreditation from JOIFF following the establishment of the city’s new International Industrial Fire Response Training Center.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay visited the newly established International Industrial Fire Response Training Center to inspect the facility. Mayor Altay stated that, with the addition of the new training center, the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department has become the first and only municipal fire service worldwide to be accredited by JOIFF. He said the center will initially provide training for Konya Fire Department personnel before welcoming firefighters and emergency response personnel from across Türkiye and other countries.

“We Became the First Municipality Accredited by JOIFF”

Mayor Altay noted that the International Industrial Fire Response Training Center, established behind the Industrial Fire Center, is designed to deliver training across a wide range of industrial emergency response scenarios.

“We became the first municipality in both Türkiye and the world to receive accreditation from JOIFF, the international organization that provides accreditation in the field of industrial emergency preparedness and response. This will enable us to provide firefighter training here, particularly for the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” he said.

What Is JOIFF Accreditation?

JOIFF is an international organization dedicated to industrial emergency preparedness and response. JOIFF accreditation confirms that a training center meets internationally recognized standards not only in terms of its physical infrastructure but also its training programs, practical training processes, safety and environmental management, instructor qualifications, and assessment and evaluation systems.
