Konya Offers the Finest Ramadan Experience

Konya Offers the Finest Ramadan Experience

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay stated that Ramadan in Konya represents a true mobilization of goodwill, adding that this special period makes the spiritual character of the city even more visible.

Emphasizing that Konya is a city rooted in compassion, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay stated that this spirit is felt even more strongly across every corner of the city during Ramadan. He described Ramadan as a pause that allows people to breathe amid the fast pace of urban life, saying:

“Ramadan is a time when we rediscover one another within the crowds. It is a sacred period in which we truly realize the value of a greeting, a smile, or knocking on someone’s door. During this blessed month, every street and every corner of Konya transforms into a peaceful atmosphere where the full spirituality of Ramadan can be felt. Our priority is to ensure that this spiritual environment reaches every segment of society. With this understanding, we will continue to work tirelessly for a Konya where those in need are cared for, and where young people and children can fully experience the joy of Ramadan.”

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay stated that, as in previous years, special lighting works have been carried out at key locations in the city center to help the spirit of Ramadan be felt more strongly across Konya.

“We have implemented Ramadan-themed lighting and decoration works in the city center, particularly in Mevlana Square, Türbeönü Bazaars, Historical Bedesten, and Zafer Square. Decorations such as the star and crescent, lanterns, and other symbols reflecting the unity, sharing, and peaceful atmosphere of Ramadan have given the city center a radiant appearance, especially in the evening hours. This year, we also created a beautiful decoration inside the Historical Stone Building to mark the arrival of Ramadan. Hopefully, this will set a good example. To reflect the spirit of Ramadan, we should decorate our homes and workplaces and hang lights on our balconies. Passing on this awareness to our children during Ramadan carries a special meaning. Such activities are especially valuable in helping children recognize the arrival of this blessed month,” he said.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay stated that the Siyer Exhibition, prepared by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality to present the life and prophetic mission of Prophet Muhammad, has attracted great interest from residents of Konya, adding that the exhibition at the Stone Building will remain open throughout Ramadan.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay emphasized that another exhibition organized specifically for Ramadan last year, the “Sacred Relics Exhibition,” also attracted great interest, adding that this valuable exhibition has once again been brought together with the people of Konya at the Tantavi Culture and Art Center.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay stated that, alongside the events organized during Ramadan, they also support those in need by visiting their tables, providing assistance to low-income families through the Social Card program, and delivering easily reheatable meals to those unable to cook.

“Through these social support efforts, we contribute to the spirit of sharing in Ramadan and help ensure that every segment of society can experience the joy of this blessed month,” he said.
