Selçuklu Shines with Zero Waste Projects

Selçuklu Shines with Zero Waste Projects

The Selçuklu Municipality, setting an example for Turkey with its Zero Waste initiatives, contributes to the development of zero waste awareness in schools through its project named “Schools Compete for Zero Waste.”

The “Schools Compete for Zero Waste” project, which had its first edition organized last year and received widespread attention, is taking place in four categories: kindergarten, primary school, middle school, and high school.

As part of the competition, students who separate their waste at home will bring their waste to school on a designated day each week. They will compete to collect the highest amount of waste per school and per student, striving to achieve top rankings in the school with the most waste collected and the school with the most waste collected per student categories.

So far, 90 schools have registered for the competition, with the participation of 56,000 students. Within the scope of the competition, 84 schools have consistently provided waste each week, resulting in the collection of 63,404 kg of recyclable waste.
