UCLG Leaders Meet in Konya

The President of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and Co-President of UCLG, Bheke Stofile, who is in Konya for the Sebi Arus events, visited Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay.

Mayor Altay said they were very pleased to host UCLG Co-President Bheke Stofile during the visit held at the Metropolitan Municipality’s Taş Bina.

Highlighting that the regional visits have been productive, Mayor Altay stated that once the programs in Africa become clear, they would also like to visit Africa.

Bheke Stofile stated that this was their second visit to Konya and that relations were progressing positively. She said, “Our main goal is to enhance cooperation and partnerships, especially in the field of local governance. We support Konya for the 2026 Tangier program. We would like to see Konya assume the presidency of UCLG once again.”
