The “Konya Local Food Competition,” organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality and Selçuk University under the motto “There Is a Competition on Konya’s Table,” concluded with its provincial final.
The final was held at Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s Kırkikindi Restaurant, located in Millet Garden, where 14 contestants who had qualified by winning their respective district competitions competed for the title. The provincial final, marked by great excitement, was held in two sessions.
As part of the final program, contestants created and prepared their own menus by selecting one main course, one soup, and one dessert from the options provided.
The prepared menus were evaluated by the jury based on taste, presentation, hygiene, originality, and technical execution.
Following the evaluations, Zeliha Samur won first place, Sultan Kalkan finished second, and Fadim Koçak came third.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay congratulated all participants for having the courage to take part in the competition and presented plaques to the top three winners as well as the 14 finalists.
Jury member Nevin Halıcı said she was highly impressed with the organization, stating, “I am very pleased that our municipality has organized such a competition. In my opinion, this was the highest-quality competition held so far. This year, both the evaluation forms and every other aspect of the event were exceptionally well prepared. I congratulate our Metropolitan Municipality and look forward to seeing even better events in the future.”
Participants also thanked Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay and everyone involved in organizing the competition, expressing their hope that similar events would continue in the coming years.
Organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality and Selçuk University under the motto “There Is a Competition on Konya’s Table,” the competition aimed to preserve the authentic flavors of Konya cuisine, promote traditional local recipes, and pass the region’s gastronomic heritage on to future generations.
