Mevlana Museum Welcomes Nearly 1 Million Visitors

The Mevlana Museum in Konya, which houses the tomb of the Sufi mystic and Islamic philosopher Rumi, welcomed 917,102 visitors during the first four months of this year.

Located in Karatay district, the center of Konya, the museum regarded as the heart of Mevlevi tradition hosts a large number of visitors both from within the country and abroad.

The Kubbe-i Hadra (Green Dome), which houses Mevlana’s tomb, constitutes the most prominent and striking part of the museum.

Fikret Fidan, the Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, highlighted that the Mevlana Museum, which has endured since the 13th century, is a highly esteemed institution that displays important collections reflecting the heritage of Mevlana and Mevlevi culture.

Fidan stated: "In 2025, this number reached 917,000 during the same period. The Mevlana Museum ranks among the top three most visited museums in Turkey. It is a highly preferred destination for both domestic and international tourists, attracting a significant number of visitors from the Middle East, Europe, China, and Iran. We expect nearly 3.5 million visitors by the end of the year. Every December, numerous foreign tourists from around the world come to the city to attend the International Commemoration Ceremony of Mevlana's Anniversary of Union, which is organized with different themes each year. Visitor numbers increase significantly during this period."
