Selcuk University’s Seljuk Studies Institute organized a symposium titled “Mevlana's Seljuk World - A Mevlana Prosopography.”
Professor Dr. Mustafa Demirci, Director of the Seljuk Studies Institute, stated during the symposium at the Museum Building Conference Hall that they aim to contribute to addressing the gap in the literature on Mevlana research.
Demirci said, "Our knowledge about his life is still very limited. Therefore, it is necessary to view Mevlana's world through the eyes of a historian. By doing so, we would be able to capture other dimensions as well."
Demirci, while aiming to illuminate Mevlana's world, also expressed the desire to make a significant contribution to Seljuk history. He stated, "We are examining topics such as those Mevlana interacted with, loved, was influenced by, and how the world and universe he lived in affected him. With this symposium, although Mevlana is at its center, we aim to cast a projection onto Konya, the capital of Seljuk Anatolia, the Mevlevi life, religious life, and especially what Sufism truly is, as well as the 13th century, where many Sufis' paths intersected."
