Melek Su Dönmez Brings Medal to Konya

Melek Su Dönmez, an athlete from the Taekwondo Team of Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor, has added another achievement to her list of successes.

The 13th International Türkiye Open Taekwondo Tournament (Türkiye Open 2026), organized by the Türkiye Taekwondo Federation, was held in Antalya between March 26 and 31.

Competing for the national team in the star girls category, where matches were held across 10 weight divisions, Melek Su secured third place. Representing her country in the 29 kg category, the young athlete claimed the bronze medal with an outstanding performance.

Uğur İbrahim Altay, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, stated that they take great pride in the achievements of athletes from Konya on both national and international stages, saying, “I sincerely congratulate our successful athlete from Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor, Melek Su Dönmez, on her accomplishment. I also commend our athlete, who has achieved a significant success through her discipline, determination, and dedication, as well as the coaches who contributed to this achievement.”

Successfully representing Konya and Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor, Melek Su Dönmez had also secured third place at the 12th International Türkiye Open Taekwondo Tournament held in Antalya in 2025.
