Konya Metropolitan Municipality has added another achievement to its success on the international stage with its vision of digitalization, innovation, and a future-ready city, earning the title of “2026 Smart21 Community” by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).
Konya, which has ranked first in Türkiye in the Smart City Index rankings conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for the past five years, is steadily advancing toward becoming one of the world’s leading cities in this field through its ongoing efforts.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality, whose smart city practices are closely monitored, has achieved a significant success in the prestigious annual award program organized by the ICF.
In a list where many cities from around the world compete, with finalists from 10 countries across 5 continents including the United States, Spain, Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, and Taiwan, Konya has been named one of the world’s 21 most successful smart communities.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that the achievement is a great source of pride for Konya and made the following remarks:
“As Konya, we continue our path with determination through a technology-focused, sustainable, and human-centered urbanism approach. Our city being mentioned on such prestigious platforms, which also include some of the world’s leading cities, is an indication that the smart city applications we have implemented are progressing with a sound vision. Our goal is to make Konya one of the leading cities in smart urbanism both in Türkiye and in the world. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their efforts. May it be beneficial for our city and our country.”
