Çatalhöyük is an ancient city with a history of 9500 years,
in the heart of Anatolia, the cradle of civilizations, at the intersection of
roads connecting the world. Dominating the fertile Konya Plain, these
historical ruins share the world's first examples of civil and religious
architecture, the power of artistic and cultural traditions, and the colorful
traces of 2000 years of uninterrupted city life with their visitors. Çatalhöyük
awaits for visitors in its place where it has existed for 2000 years, within
the borders of the Küçükköy quarter of Çumra district, with its fascinating
architectural structures and its city that still seems alive even today, and
only 9 kilometers away from its ancestors in Boncuklu Mound.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality has reached 90 percent in the
construction of Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center. The center will be an
important step for Konya to be more recognized in the world. Konya Metropolitan
Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they aim to increase the
recognition of Çatalhöyük, which is based on a history of nearly 10 thousand
years, and said, "As you know, Çatalhöyük, which is one of the oldest
known city settlements in the world and contains many firsts that illuminate
human history, is located in Konya. We are also working to make Çatalhöyük more
known all over the world. In this context, it will make a great contribution to
the promotion of Çatalhöyük; We are building a promotion and welcome center
with an area of 4 thousand 500 square meters in a land of 28 thousand 500
square meters and which has the quality of a museum. When our Çatalhöyük
Welcome Center is completed, it will have the title of Turkey's largest wooden
public investment."
Stating that the physical structure is about to be completed
and then the visual works describing Çatalhöyük will be started in the
interior, President Altay stated that the center will start to serve in 2023.
