Must-See Places in Konya: The Körükini Cave

The Körükini Cave, also known as Gorik Ini by the locals, is one of the most important caves in the Derebucak area of Konya, Turkey. It is located 145 kilometers away from Konya city center.


Semi-active cave system with an underground river called Uzunsu flowing through it. There are also three small pools that can be crossed by boat or by using special caving techniques.


Due to the flow of Uzunsu Stream, the pebbles and sand islets among the large and small lakes, which are constantly present in the cave in the summer and winter and, become more evident in dry periods when the water level decreases. While dripstone accumulations can be seen in the higher parts of the cave, there is an area of magnificent beauty consisting of many ponds, stalactites, and stalagmites towards the exit.


Although there is a possibility of boating in the cave, the best time to enter is the summer and autumn months.


Körükini, which hundreds of tourists visit every year like the famous caves in Turkey, is among the largest caves in the world. You will not be able to stop yourself from photographing the magnificent stalactites, stalagmites, columns, or travertines inside the cave.
