Located within the borders of Konya, Ankara and Aksaray and having the characteristics of a closed basin, Salt Lake meets a large part of Turkey's salt needs. In addition, the lake draws attention with its natural beauty.
HABITAT for VARIOUS BIRDS
The lake, which hosts migratory birds in the spring and
summer months, is known as a 'flamingo paradise' by the locals, mostly because
it is the place where flamingos stay and hatch.
WHITE and PINK
Salt Lake, which meets 70 percent of Turkey's salt needs, is
on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List with its unique natural structure.
Algae in the lake, which is visited by many local and foreign tourists every
year, protects itself from the harmful effects of sun rays by producing red
colored beta-carotene during the summer periods when the temperature and
salinity increase. Again, in this period, the color of the lake turns pink or
red because the halo bacteria reproduce too much.
A UNIQUE VIEW WITH THE SUNSET
Salt Lake, which is one of the important wetlands of Turkey
and is of great importance for the protection of biological diversity in our
country, also attracts the attention of visitors with its natural beauty.
