Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that, as Konya Metropolitan Municipality, they support citizens engaged in agriculture in every aspect in Konya, known as the agricultural capital.

“We have provided significant support so far to help increase the income of our citizens, especially those involved in agriculture and livestock farming. With our support programs including saplings, seedlings, seeds, as well as machinery, equipment, and training, we aim to further develop agriculture in Konya. At the same time, we are also working to mitigate the effects of climate change by encouraging the cultivation of crops that require less water,” he said.

Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay recalled that saplings of almond, walnut, plum, quince, chestnut, sumac, pistachio, and persimmon were distributed to farmers this year.

“We have delivered a total of 31,420 fruit saplings to our farmers this year. Today, we are also distributing plum and almond saplings to our farmers in central neighborhoods. We provide our saplings in pots. Our aim is to help our citizens earn more income with less effort and to reduce water usage. As Konya Metropolitan Municipality, we have always stood by our farmers and producers, and we will continue to do so,” he said.

Farmers who benefited from the support also expressed great satisfaction with Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s assistance and thanked Mayor Altay for his contributions to agriculture.
