Konya Mushrooms Reach Japan and China

The demand for oyster mushrooms grown in Konya, Turkey, is steadily increasing. Valued for both taste and medicinal properties, these mushrooms are in high demand and exported to major East Asian markets such as Japan and China.

Oyster mushrooms have become a significant source of income for farmers in Konya.

Recognized for their antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, and antitumor properties, oyster mushrooms offer various health benefits. They support liver protection, boost the immune system, and help reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

To ensure the sustainable cultivation of oyster mushrooms, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has developed the "Oyster Mushroom Action Plan" for 2022-2026. This initiative aims to increase production, improve efficiency, support the establishment of new production facilities, and promote mushroom consumption.

Konya Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Mustafa Kurnaz highlighted the economic importance of oyster mushrooms for the region, stating, "Oyster mushrooms are in high demand due to their taste and health benefits. We are working to ensure their sustainable use."
