Karatay Invites Visitors to Discover Its Living Heritage

The Karatay Municipality continues to implement important projects aimed at bringing thousands of years of cultural heritage into tourism and passing it on to future generations, while also taking innovative steps to promote the district.

In Karatay, alongside significant historical sites such as the Mevlana Mausoleum, the Şems-i Tebrizi Mausoleum, Alaaddin Mosque, and Karatay Madrasa, lavender and rose gardens, parks, and festival areas also contribute to the diversity of tourism.

The transformation of Obruk Caravanserai into a museum hotel, the ongoing excavation works at Savatra Ancient City, and urban transformation projects are also strengthening the district’s tourism infrastructure.

The Karatay Municipality also continues its promotional efforts with the “Visit Karatay” project, which has received great appreciation and was launched to allow citizens to get to know the district more closely in the digital environment. The digital tourism platform “Visit Karatay” brings together all the district’s values under one roof, offering visitors a comprehensive exploration opportunity. Those who wish to discover Karatay can easily access its historical, cultural, and natural riches through the platform.

The ancient city shaped by the atmosphere of tolerance of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi can now be explored not only through physical visits but also in the digital environment. Thanks to “Visit Karatay,” visitors have the opportunity to examine the district in detail and plan their trip in advance.

While strengthening its tourism infrastructure, the Karatay Municipality also stands out with its investments in health tourism. In this context, the Karatay Thermal Holiday Village has become one of the region’s important attractions.

Serving since 2020, the facility has welcomed more than 400,000 visitors with its five-star comfort and healing thermal waters. Attracting strong interest from guests across Türkiye and abroad, the facility makes a significant contribution to the diversity of tourism in Karatay.

The Mayor of Karatay, Hasan Kılca, stated that the district is steadily progressing toward becoming not only one of Konya’s but also one of Türkiye’s important tourism centers. Noting that Karatay has a deep-rooted history and a rich cultural heritage, Mayor Kılca emphasized that this wealth has been transformed into a strong tourism value through archaeological sites, museums, mosques, mausoleums, and natural attractions.
