Konya Proudly Affirms Its Status as the Agriculture Capital

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, who met with businesspeople at the Konya Chamber of Commerce October Council Meeting, stated, "We are trying to emphasize on every platform that we are a city of agriculture, the capital of agriculture."

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay also attended the October Council Meeting of the Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTB). Mehmet Büyükalim, the Chairman of the Council of Konya Chamber of Commerce, who opened the meeting, expressed great pleasure in hosting Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay at the Council meeting.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay also stated the following: "I am greatly delighted to hold such an important position as the President of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We will make intense efforts to achieve peace, harmony, and brotherhood in the world. Within the framework of the UCLG World Council, we hosted nearly 400 local and regional government representatives from 50 different countries in Konya. They emphasized how peaceful and clean Konya is. This has brought great prestige to Konya."

"We are making every effort to emphasize that we are a city of agriculture, the capital of agriculture, because the headquarters of the Agricultural Cities Union is located here. With the Metropolitan Municipality Law, we have also started providing more support to our producers in agricultural matters because we have a significant farming community. The importance of agricultural production and food became even more evident worldwide during the pandemic. With this awareness, we are actively engaged in activities to increase product diversity and serve as an example to our producers. Alongside educational activities, we are working intensively towards branding our agricultural products. For this purpose, we are constructing a Regional Product Sales Center next to the Science Center."

President Altay stated, "The business community in Konya contributes to our city and our country's economy with a focus on production, investment, employment, and exports. In this sense, their expectations and suggestions are important to us. Konya is the city of all of us. That's why we are aware of how valuable everything done here is and how it carries our city's future. We hope to achieve even better things in collaboration with our business community."
