Konya is also confident in the cultivation of black seed,
which is used as a spice or its oil is used as a raw material for aromatherapy
products.
Black seed, which is indispensable in both kitchens and
dermatology due to its unique aroma, has become one of the products that Konya
is confident in producing. The cultivation of black seed, supported by the
Konya Metropolitan Municipality's agricultural development incentives, is spreading
rapidly.
The cultivation area of black seed, which expands every
year, is primarily favored within the triangle formed by Kadınhanı, Sarayönü,
and Cihanbeyli. A productive harvesting season was achieved with a yield of 310
tons of black seed this year, making a significant contribution to the
country's economy.
Emphasizing that black seed cultivation is entirely carried
out in water-deficient areas, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur
İbrahim Altay stated, "We support the waterless farming model in Konya.
Black seed cultivation takes place entirely in water-deficient areas. I
congratulate our producers who contribute to our country's economy with
approximately 310 tons, primarily in the Kadınhanı, Sarayönü, and Cihanbeyli
districts." He shared images from the black seed harvest in the Meydanlı
neighborhood of Kadınhanı.
