Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay met with citizens in Ahırlı and Akören and launched the 290 million lira Suğla Drinking Water Transmission Line Project.
As part of his district visits, Mayor Altay first inspected the Seydişehir–Bozkır State Road construction site, where work has been launched by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ahmet Demir, General Manager of Konya Metropolitan Municipality KOSKİ, stated that they have been working for years on this important project, which will meet the region’s water needs, and wished that it would be beneficial for everyone.
Mayor Altay stated that this step would be one of the important works they will leave for the future of the region. He said:
“Within the scope of this project, drinking water to be supplied from wells located in the northeast of Suğla Lake will be delivered to the group reservoir through pumping stations to be established. The water will then be distributed safely and continuously to our neighborhoods through the installed system. As part of the works, we will construct approximately 8.5 kilometers of main transmission line and a total of 55.5 kilometers of drinking water pipeline. In this way, we will also complete the construction of a 2,000 cubic meter capacity group water reservoir. In addition, a total of three pumping stations will be built, including two main stations and an additional station that will serve Bademli neighborhood. The project will also include modern SCADA systems that enable remote monitoring and control of water. Structures measuring water levels, as well as air and pressure release points, will be built. Bridge and stream crossings and connection lines will also be completed. Thus, the region’s drinking water system will, God willing, become safer and more sustainable, managed with modern technology.”
Mayor Altay explained that this important investment will serve the neighborhoods of Ahırlı, Akkise, Aliçerçi, Bademli, Balıklava, Büyüköz, Çiftlik, Erdoğan, Karacakuyu, Kayacık and Küçüköz, as well as Yalıhüyük’s Arasöğüt, Saray and Yalıhüyük neighborhoods.
He said: “This major investment, which we will implement with a total cost of 290 million lira, will, God willing, ensure that our citizens have access to safe and uninterrupted drinking water for a long time. May it bring good fortune to our region and our city. I would like to thank our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, and also the Chairman and Board Members of İLBANK. These are projects carried out with long-term financing. It is not possible to realize such works with our own resources alone. Therefore, İLBANK’s support is very valuable and important for us.”
