Serafeddin Mosque

Serafeddin Mosque

Serafeddin Mosque was built in the 12th century by Sheikh Serafeddin. Over the centuries, it underwent several restorations. The most significant restoration was in 1636 by Mehmed Çavuşoğlu Memi Bey, who practically rebuilt the mosque.

The mosque has a large dome made of cut stones, supported by 10 piers and a semi-dome in the south. It also has a minaret with a single balcony that was added later. The mosque's main prayer hall has seven domes.

The tomb of Şerafettin is located on the south side of the mosque. The tomb was originally built in the 12th century but was destroyed in the early 20th century. It was rebuilt by the Regional Directorate of Foundations in 2010.

The mosque is located on the south side of the government house in Konya. It is situated right across from the Shams Tabrizi Mosque and tomb.

Serafeddin Mosque is a historic mosque in Konya and a beautiful example of Ottoman architecture.
