Konya's Serafeddin Mosque, situated in the heart of the city, is a significant historical landmark. Originally constructed in the 12th century by Sheikh Serafeddin, the mosque underwent a major restoration in 1444 under Karamanoğlu II. Ibrahim Bey. However, it was later demolished and reconstructed in 1636 by Mehmed Çavuşoğlu Memi Bey.
Built from cut stone, the mosque features a square layout topped with a large dome. It includes galleries on all sides except the south. The interior is adorned with exquisite inscriptions and ornaments, while the marble pulpit and mihrab stand out as notable artistic achievements. A single-tiered minaret was added in a later period.
The mosque beautifully showcases both Seljuk and Ottoman architectural styles, making it a key historical and tourist attraction in Konya.
Adjacent to the mosque, the Sheikh Serafeddin Mausoleum, originally demolished in the early 20th century, was meticulously rebuilt in 2010 by the Regional Directorate of Foundations.
Serafeddin Mosque remains one of Konya's most important religious and cultural sites, drawing thousands of visitors each year.
