The Bayındır Mosque

The Bayındır Mosque

The Bayındır Mosque, located in the village of Bayındır near Konya, is a historic wooden mosque constructed in 1365. It represents one of the most well-preserved examples of Anatolian wooden mosque architecture from the 14th century.

The mosque features a square-shaped plan with a symmetrical design. A short, octagonal minaret crafted from cut stone masonry graces the western wall. The main entrance on the east side boasts a pointed arch. The interior prayer hall is divided into five sections by rows of wooden columns. Windows with wooden frames provide natural light, with iron grills on the lower ones for added security.

The Bayındır Mosque holds historical significance as a testament to Anatolian wooden mosque design and construction techniques.
