The Seyyid Mahmud Hayrani Tomb is the mausoleum of a Sufi saint named Seyyid Mahmud Hayrani who lived in Akşehir during the 13th century.
History: Built in the second half of the 13th century (around 1230-1240), the tomb is a notable example of Seljuk architecture. It was later renovated around 1409-1410.
Location: The tomb is situated in the old quarter of Akşehir, near the foot of the Sultan Mountains to the south of the city. There’s also a small mosque known as the Ferruhşah Mosque located right next to the tomb.
Architecture: Details on the architectural style are unfortunately not widely available online. However, knowing it was built during the Seljuk period suggests it likely has some characteristic features such as intricate brickwork, geometric designs, and possibly a fluted dome.
