Zengibar Castle

Zengibar Castle

Konya's historic Zengibar Castle stands out for its rich history and strategic location. Situated approximately 16 km inland at an elevation of 1,860 meters, this castle was known as Isaura in ancient times and offers a commanding view of the surrounding area.

The best time to visit Zengibar Castle is in the early morning during spring or summer. Be sure to bring water and snacks, and allocate at least two hours for your visit. The castle, located on Asar Hill, provides an excellent vantage point over Konya, Seydişehir, Karaman, and Hadim. Its height and natural defenses make it an ideal location for overseeing and protecting the region.

The castle's strategic placement, combined with natural barriers, allows for extensive surveillance of the surrounding area. The abundant water resources and fertile land around the castle support a population of approximately five thousand people.

The castle ruins are open to visitors free of charge. The elevation of the castle is lower than the surrounding roads, making access relatively easy. You can enjoy a pleasant walk around the area and take as many photos as you like during your visit.
