The 3rd Konya Gastronomy Festival, organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality to promote the city’s deep-rooted culinary culture at the national and international level, welcomed hundreds of thousands of food enthusiasts over four days.
On the final day of the festival held at Kalehan Ecdat Garden, Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay visited the event area, meeting with local vendors and citizens.
Commenting on the event, Mayor Altay stated that they successfully held the third edition of the Konya Gastronomy Festival with a very large turnout.
Mayor Altay said, “This year, with the activities and competitions organized by our 180 chefs, we held an event that made its mark on Turkey’s agenda. We also had the opportunity to introduce both the beauty of Konya and its cuisine to the fans who came for the national match. Under the slogan ‘In My City, Food is Civilization,’ Konya is making a new effort to promote its gastronomy. We are determined to share Konya’s ancient heritage and its culinary culture, which has continued for 10,000 years, with all of Turkey. One of our most important brands for this is Konya GastroFest. God willing, next year we will hold it in an even bigger and stronger way. To all our chefs and guests who joined our competitions and came from outside the city, we say ‘welcome’ to the land of Hazrat Mevlana and the capital of the Seljuks. From now on, Konya and gastronomy will come together for much greater achievements. I thank our vendors, chefs, hundreds of thousands of visitors, and everyone who contributed by supporting our festival with their stands.”
Local vendors who supported the festival with their stands expressed their satisfaction, stating that they had the opportunity to showcase Konya’s local products while also achieving significant sales, and they thanked Mayor Altay for the event. Guests who spoke about the festival said they were delighted to experience the rich flavors of Konya’s gastronomy. They also shared their hope that such events would continue in the future and extended their gratitude to everyone who contributed.
